Who are Mariela?

Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Mariela are an indie pop band who are creating

memorable songs that people can't help but to sing out loud. Mariela was formed in 2017 when vocalist Thomas Harbin and a close friend were playing through some demos in New York. There was a moment where Harbin realized that they had created enough demos to start booking shows. From there he moved back to Nashville and booked Mariela's first show, where he contacted friends to play alongside him. After the fifth show, all members of Mariela were confirmed and that was the beginning of their musical journey as a band.

In January of 2018, their first 6 track EP Mariela was released, followed by a 2 track acoustic EP featuring the songs, "Magic" and "Forgetting All We Ever Knew". Style wise, these songs are incredibly soothing and are perfect for those who can't work in silence. As a college student, I am always looking for studying tunes and Mariela fits this bill! Everything from instrumentals to lyrics are flawless and each song has a unique sound and story giving a personal connection to whoever find themselves listening to these songs.

New music is always something to anticipate and Mariela are currently working on a single and music video to be release in either August or September of this year. For anyone interested in listening to these guys live, they are also going on a two week tour up the east coast! They are playing around the Black Potato festival and will be playing in New Jersey, DC, New York City and Charlottesville. Make sure to follow them on all of their social media to get updates on these events!

Starting a band comes with its own set of challenges as well as achievements, Mariela is no exception. Breaking through the noise was one of the greatest challenges faced when forming. Every day more people are discovering their music and are sharing their stories about how Mariela's music has impacted their lives. Fans share videos of them singing along to their songs in the car or sharing stories about how their music helped them get through a though day and moments that those are incredibly rewarding.

Mariela are breaking through in the music world and the future seems incredibly bright. No matter where the road takes them, Mariela will leave an impact on everyone who discovers their music. I can not wait to see what they have in store for the future.
