Love can be a complicated emotion at times with many twists and turns throughout a romantic journey. There will come a time where one needs to consider when enough is enough and pose the question to themselves, is this relationship worth the cost of my well-being? In the Mourning navigates this very dynamic in their latest single, "At What Cost" with a true emo flair.

Written by creator, Amanda Tran, the story is one that will resonate with many. The desire to make a relationship work only to learn only to discover the desire is one-sided. Talk about complicated. Tran's unique vocals hold a softness and power that brings a calmness to this track, allowing the instrumentals to propell the track forward in true 2000s fashion. It's clear that producers Hansel Romero and Velvet Year found a way to bridge the old with the new, all without losing Tran's individuality as an artist.

I mean it when I say, it's been a long while since I have heard a song with such a unique sound. From Tran's vocals, to the overall production and impactful storytelling, there is just a lot to love about what "At What Cost" brings to the table. After listening to this track on repeat for about 15 mintues, my favorite part has to be Tran's unique twist to the emo age. Unlike the common angst we are used to, she presents a softer side without losing the emotional pull that draws listeners in.

Another dynamic element of this release comes in the form of the music video. Under the direction of Kelly Mason and editing of Alan Dang aka Airbender, this video strings together odes from the early 2000s, such as the iconic roof concert and camcorder shots. Truly a throwback! Don't just take my word for it! Check out the whole video below!

For those who can't get enough of "At What Cost" consider exploring their EP, At What Cost Deluxe to experience this track in a new light. Enjoy, the original version, a remix by fellow rising band, nightlife, an acoustic version for those who appreciate some feels in life and lastly a full instrumental version which is always a treat! In fact, since In the Mourning were feeling extra generous, they even threw in their cover of "Complicated" by the queen Avril Lavigne! How kind of them.

In the Mourning are truly a breath of fresh air in the musical world. Something tells me they are going to take off and everyone should keep them on their radar! To keep track of everything In the Mourning has in store, give them a follow on all social media. Also, don't forget to stream "At What Cost" and buy a copy for your personal music collection!
