New Single: "YOU." by Ella-Jane Sharpe

On Thursday, July 2, 2020, I had the tremendous pleasure to sit down and have a one-on-one chat with the incredibly talented, Ella-Jane Sharpe!

I’ve always enjoyed soulful R&B; something about the genre just speaks to me in a way that no other music can. That class of music has known many greats throughout the ages, like Stevie Wonder to Diana Ross, even modern-day icons like Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, and Alicia Keys. There’s a reason why R&B and soul is synonymous with pop music.

Now hearing Ella-Jane’s latest single, “YOU.”, gave me chills! I swear I’m not that sensitive, but good gosh, her voice and the background track all elevated me to a whole other realm. Yes, her vocals are just THAT damn good!

The song is about her yearning to see her lover: questioning the reality of her relationship, whether her love is real or not, due to how surreal her memories are before, when they were just friends, and how she longs to be with him soon.

Quite a simple concept really, any good song is about love, but add her producer and cellist, Emanuel Keller's ear for talent and great beats, you have literal magic.

Speaking of transcendence to a new beautiful realm that “YOU.” gave me. Can I talk about the music video?!

That’s right, the accompanying music video was both produced in an at home studio. Since you know, there is a whole pandemic going on at the moment. Huge thanks to director, Omri Drumlevich, Alex Aulson, who edited this visual master piece, Emanuel Keller assistanced on filming, set design, as well as hair and makeup. Last but not least a special thanks to Zina Zinchenko and Lydia Renold.

Look, there is no question that I have become a big fan; I’m raving! Maybe it’s the fact that she won a $26,000 scholarship to Berklee (where she currently attends), or maybe that she performed for Justin Timberlake over in her hometown of Sydney, Australia before she attended the college. Or that she literally has been trained by Erana Clarke herself (who is a well known vocal coach in Australia).

But honestly no, I’m a fan because after hearing her song and speaking with her for about an hour, anyone could tell this is her passion; she loves music and music loves her. Her voice and passion is a match made in heaven; this girl was born to sing!

Ella-Jane Sharpe has a very bright future ahead of her, because she sings with soul and such a sweet and rich timbre.
